ERGOT – Claviceps Purpurea

Claviceps purpurea is a species of ascomycete parasitic on cereals, producing biologically hight active substances, which belong to the group of ergot alkaloids sought-after by the pharmaceutical industry.

Aimed at breeding of Claviceps purpurea led to cultivate its own trunk with a characteristic spectrum of structural type alkaloids in high concentrations.
In this way it is achieved economically – efficient production of departure raw material for the production of the group of pharmacologically active ingredients (APIs).

We provide contract growing, preparation of ergot to extraction according to customer requirements. Perform the pre-extraction treatment of the material supplied by the customer.

Ergot modified flakes

Dried sclerotium of parasitic fungus Claviceps purpurea (Fries ex Fries) Tulasne. The material is composed of pieces of longitudinal shape which can be inflexed into the shape of sickle. Towards to the apex the grain is narrow.

The surface of grain is often longitudinally grooved. The colour of the grain surface is dark violet to dark red-brown. After snap the inner part of grain is of light pink to light purple colour.

Flakes or parts thereof with a length of 3-30 mm, the color of brown to reddish violet, characteristic odor.
